
World Juniors Update: Six Wolverines Set to Compete

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Six members of the University of Michigan ice hockey team are competing at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, with four skating for Team USA and two representing Hockey Canada.
Asher Barnett, Will Horcoff, Cole McKinney and Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen suit up for the Red, White and Blue, while Michael Hage and Jack Ivankovic will compete for Team Canada.
The World Junior Championship will be held Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dec. 24: All Four Wolverines Make Final USA Roster
Asher Barnett, Will Horcoff, Cole McKinney and Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen all earned spots on the final 25-man roster for Team USA, as announced by USA Hockey on Wednesday (Dec. 24). The squad will hold one final practice on Christmas Day before opening the tournament against Germany on Friday, Dec. 26.
The United States defeated Germany 8-0 in pre-tournament action on Dec. 21 and also posted a 3-1 win over Finland.
Dec. 8: Hage, Ivankovic Named to Hockey Canada Roster
Michael Hage and Jack Ivankovic were named to Hockey Canada's World Junior Championship training camp roster, it was announced by Hockey Canada on Monday (Dec. 8).
The 27-man roster reported to training camp at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls, Ontario, from Dec. 12-22.
Thirteen Wolverines have captured medals with Team Canada at the World Junior Championship, most recently Adam Fantilli, who earned gold in 2023.
This marks the third time Michigan has had multiple players represent Hockey Canada in the same tournament, joining Owen Power and Kent Johnson in 2022, and Jason Botterill and Robb Gordon in 1996.
Dec. 1: Four Wolverines Named to USA Hockey Camp Roster
Asher Barnett, Will Horcoff, Cole McKinney and Dakoda Rhéaume-Mullen were named to the 31-man USA Hockey training camp roster and reported on Dec. 15. The final 25-player roster was announced on Dec. 24.
The United States enters the tournament as the two-time defending gold medalist and has recorded 16 podium finishes all time, including seven gold medals, two silver medals and seven bronze medals.
Michigan players have earned 29 medals with Team USA at the World Junior Championship since 1980, including nine in the last three years.
