
Hocker Singh Sets Pace for Maize and Blue at Nuttycombe Invitational

MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team earned a 25th-place finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin on Friday (Oct. 17).
NC State (41) won the meet, while Notre Dame (125) and Iowa State (176) rounded out the top-three finishers.
Michigan sat in 27th through the first two kilometers, with Stephanie Bertram and Anjali Hocker Singh leading the Wolverines in 82nd and 83rd place, respectively. U-M moved up three spots to 24th heading into the final two kilometers as Bertram (68th place) and Hocker Singh remained neck and neck. Penelopea Gordon also saw improvement at the 4K mark, moving up five spots to sit in 151st.
Hocker Singh remained in 69th place and crossed the finish line first for the Maize and Blue with a time of 20:57.6, while Bertram fell to 91st place (21:04.3). Gordon continued her upward movement in the final two kilometers, improving by 31 spots to finish 130th with a time of 21:42.5.
In the B Race, sophomore Katelyn Watkins led the team's effort with a 10th-place finish and a personal best time of 21:35.6. Jadyn Zdanavage was the second Wolverine to finish, placing 16th (21:42.1), while Leah Hill finished 23rd (21:53.4).
U-M will be back in action Friday, Oct. 24, for the EMU Fall Classic in Dexter, Mich.
