
23 Wolverines Named to CSCAA Scholar All-America Team

RICHMOND, Va. -- The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America named 23 University of Michigan men's and women's swimmers and divers as Scholar All-Americans for the 2023-24 season on Wednesday (July 3). Additionally, both programs received the CSCAA Scholar All-America team awards.
Leading the way for the women were Kathryn Ackerman, Malia Amuan, Casey Chung and Brady Kendall who all earned first-team honors. Chrismon Clark, Sophia Guo, Evie Johnson, Alex Mercier, Ella Jo Piersma, Taylor Peters, Madison Smith, Mattea Sokolow and Sophia Tuinman were tabbed second team (also called honorable mention).
On the men's side, Eitan Ben-Shitrit and Gal Groumi garnered first-team honors. Jack Callan, Jaeddan Gamilla, Connor Hunt, Matt Kroll, Kameron Liberman, Cameron Luarde, Ethan Schwab and Yugo Tsukikawa were named to the second team.
To qualify for first team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-team selections (also called honorable mention) must also have earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a 'B' time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.
Both the U-M men and women earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors as a team, earning a cumulative 3.18 and 3.39 GPA, respectively. To qualify, teams had to earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 during the spring semester.
