
Three Qualify for Olympic Trials, Richard Earns Floor Title at USA Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Six past and present members of the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team -- Javier Alfonso, Landen Blixt, Cameron Bock, Crew Bold, Paul Juda and Fred Richard -- competed at the 2024 USA Gymnastics Championships, Thursday through Saturday (May. 30-June 1), with Richard taking home a runner-up finish in the all-around competition as well as a title on floor exercise and a runner-up finish on high bar.
Overall, Richard, Juda, and Bock were selected to maintain their spots on the United States National Team and earned a berth to the organization's Olympic trials, June 27-30, in Minneapolis, Minn. Richard qualified by virtue of a top-five finish in the all-around, while Juda and Bock advanced through the USAG's point system.
Richard marked a two-day all-around score of 170.250 for the runner-up finish, while Juda (167.150) took sixth and Bock (166.850) placed eighth. Blixt scored a 159.350 to take 15th.
On floor exercise, Richard compiled a total score of 29.500, highlighted by a 14.900 on the exercise on day two to secure the title. Blixt has his best individual event on floor as well, scoring a 28.650 with a 14.650 on the second day of competition. Juda took fifth on the event, notching a 28.450.
Bock led the Wolverine grouping on pommel horse with a 28.000 to place fifth, with Juda following with a 27.900 for sixth. Alfonso placed fifth on still rings (28.600), while Richard took sixth (28.300).
Richard also led U-M on parallel bars where he took ninth (28.900), and his runner-up finish on high bar was followed by Bock (28.800, third) and Bold (27.100, sixth).
