
Four Wolverines Earn CSC Academic All-District Team Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kathryn Ackerman, Brady Kendall, Claire Newman and Kiarra Milligan were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced in a release on Tuesday (April 2). To receive the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.
Ackerman is a senior who is pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering and is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. In the pool, Ackerman put together a solid senior campaign, capped off by finishing 15th overall in the 400-yard IM against the best swimmers in the country at the NCAA Championships. For her performance, Ackerman landed on the All-America second team.
Kendall is a sophomore who is pursuing a degree in pharmaceutical sciences and earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition for the first time in her Michigan career. Kendall enjoyed a breakout season, registering multiple top-five finishes and winning a 400-yard freestyle relay conference title at the Big Ten Championships. Kendall qualified for the championship final in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships and came in seventh to be named to the All-America team.
Milligan is a sophomore who is enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts and garnered an Academic All-Big Ten accolade for the first time this winter. Milligan led the way for the women's divers, highlighted by an appearance in the NCAA Championships on the three-meter springboard. Milligan qualified for the championship final and placed seventh with a score of 288.65, earning All-America honors.
Newman is a senior who is pursuing a degree in environment and has captured Academic All-Big Ten recognition three times. Newman put together a solid senior season, highlighted by winning the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award at the conference championships in February. At the NCAA Championships, Newman was a critical piece of the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that finished fifth and fourth overall, respectively. For her contributions, Newman received All-America honors.
