Wolverines Score 111 in Fifth Straight Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team led wire-to-wire and had six players in double figures, running its winning streak to five with a 111-56 win over Long Beach State on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 24) at Crisler Center. The 111 points are the third-most in program history.
Michigan had six players in double figures, paced by Olivia Olson's second-straight 20-point game. Olson turned in 23 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the floor, also going for two boards and two assists in just 22 minutes. Syla Swords had 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals, with Yulia Grabovskaia (13), Jordan Hobbs (12), Brooke Quarles Daniels (10) and Te'Yala Delfosse (10) each reaching double figures as well. Michigan shot 53.2 percent from the floor and totaled 25 assists while forcing 27 turnovers.
U-M scored the first five points, getting a layup from Hobbs and a three-pointer from Swords to start. The opening run ended up at 10-2, capped by a second triple from Swords at the 6:32 mark of the first quarter. Michigan's lead grew to as many as 15 in the opening quarter, taking a 23-8 lead on a Grabovskaia layup with 52 seconds remaining.
Michigan's lead never fell below 13 points in the second quarter, ending the frame on a 6-0 run for a 51-26 lead after 20 minutes. Swords led the way for the Wolverines over the first 20 minutes, scoring 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting.
The Wolverines exploded for 33 points in the third quarter, with Olson putting up 16 on 7-for-8 shooting. U-M shot 68.4 percent in the third, getting 12 points off Beach's eight turnovers.
Delfosse was the star of the fourth quarter, making her Michigan debut. She led the Wolverines with eight points over the final 10 minutes while also grabbing five boards and dishing out two assists. U-M scored 27 points in the fourth and held LBSU to just nine points to record the 55-point win.
U-M heads to Florida for the Fort Myers Tip-Off, taking on Belmont on Friday (Nov. 29) at 2:30 p.m.
