ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan wrestling team, in conjunction with the official release of the Big Ten Conference dual-meet slate, announced its 2024-25 schedule on Tuesday (Oct. 8), featuring 12 duals and three regular-season tournaments. Start times and television selections will be announced at a later date.
The Wolverines will kick off the season at the Clarion Open on Sunday, Nov. 3, before participating in the annual Michigan State Open the following weekend on Saturday, Nov. 9. The dual-meet slate will start at home, where U-M will host Columbia on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Crisler Center. Columbia is led by first-year head coach and former Michigan assistant Donny Pritzlaff. The Wolverines will also travel to Duke (Nov. 22) and Virginia (Nov. 24) in first-semester competition.
Michigan will host four Big Ten duals at Crisler Center this season: Maryland (Jan. 10), Nebraska (Jan. 24), Indiana (Jan. 28) and Ohio State (Feb. 1). U-M's road Big Ten duals include Northwestern (Jan. 17), Minnesota (Jan. 19), Penn State (Feb. 7) and Michigan State (Feb. 16). The Wolverines will wrap up their dual slate at home against Central Michigan on Feb. 23; venue of the dual is yet to be determined.
Northwestern will host the 2025 Big Ten Championships, March 8-9, in Evanston, Ill., before the 2024-25 season wraps with the NCAA Championships two weeks later (March 20-22) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
Coming off second-place Big Ten and third-place NCAA finishes last season, Michigan has a blend of experienced veterans and young talent on its roster in 2024-25 -- the seventh season under head coach Sean Bormet. Michigan returns three starters from last season's lineup, including All-American Dylan Ragusin at 133 pounds, and brought in two graduate transfers in Chase Saldate and Jacob Cardenas at 157 and 197 pounds, respectively, as well as a talented six-member freshman class.
