ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics head coach Yuan Xiao announced on Monday (Oct. 14) the team's 2025 slate -- with the Wolverines set to host three regular-season home meets as well as the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Championships at Crisler Center.
U-M will host its annual Maize and Blue intrasquad meet on Dec. 7 for a quick tune-up before opening the regular season on Jan. 11 hosting Greenville and Simpson. The Wolverines will then hit the road for the 2025 Windy City Invitational on Jan. 18 at Navy Pier in Chicago, where the team will look to defend its 2024 title.
The team will stay on the road for a pair of meets, heading to Springfield College on Jan. 25 before opening conference competition at Penn State on Feb. 1. The Maize and Blue will return home to host Illinois on Feb. 8 before closing out February at Oklahoma (Feb. 15). In the final two meets of the regular season, the Wolverines will host Ohio State on March 15 before the regular-season finale at Nebraska on March 21.
Michigan will play host to the Big Ten Championships on April 4-5 and will look for its fifth straight Big Ten title, the longest streak for the program since winning six consecutive titles from 1961-66. U-M last hosted the conference championships in 2018, finishing second to Illinois.
The NCAA Championships will also be held in Ann Arbor, with the qualifying round set for April 18 and the finals set for April 19. The Maize and Blue has finished in the top five at the last five NCAA Championship meets, earning NCAA runner-up finishes for two straight seasons. Michigan last hosted the NCAA Championships in 2014, claiming the national title with a score of 445.050.
The Wolverines will return 14 gymnasts who competed at the 2024 NCAA Championships, including five All-Americans and one national champion (Paul Juda, floor exercise). 2024 Big Ten individual champions Landen Blixt (floor exercise) and Fred Richard (all-around) also return to the lineup. Juda, Richard, and Lais Najjar competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Juda and Richard helping lead Team USA to a bronze-medal finish -- its first team medal since 2008.
Both championships will be held at Crisler Center, while all regular-season meets will take place at Cliff Keen Arena. Admission to all regular-season events is free. Tickets for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships will go on sale in 2025.
