
Wolverines Drop Rivalry Dual Against No. 5 Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team fell 184-116 in its rivalry matchup with No. 5 Ohio State on Saturday (Jan. 20) at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
Casey Chung was impressive in the backstroke, winning both the 100- and 200-yard races with times of 53.24 seconds and 1:57.0, respectively.
Stephanie Balduccini turned in another solid day in the pool. The freshman started her meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.95) and followed up with a time of 49.24 in the 100 free, good for second overall.
Fellow first-year Hannah Bellard continued her run of strong performances in the butterfly, winning the 200-yard event with a time of 1:58.41.
Malia Amuan took third in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 2:00.64, and Devon Kitchel posted a time of 2:18.23 to take third.
Katie Crom swam a strong race in the 500 free, finishing second with a time of 4:51.36. Brady Kendall logged a mark of 53.80 in the 100 fly to finish third in a tightly contested event. Kathryn Ackerman closed out the individual portion of the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, registering a time of 2:01.33.
In diving, Evie Johnson won the one-meter dive, posting a total of 298.13. Kiarra Milligan put together two strong performances, finishing second in the three-meter and third in the one-meter.
The Wolverines will return to the pool on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17-18 when they host the First Chance Meet at Canham Natatorium. Start times for both days are to be announced.
