
Wolverines Conclude Tourney Action at the Michigan Invite

» Michigan got a doubles win from Nicole Hammond and Anca Craciun against Notre Dame, giving the pair a 2-1 record on the weekend.
» Jaedan Brown earned a three-set win over Duke's Kelly Chen, winning the first and third sets in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win. Brown was down 3-0 in the final set before rallying for the win.
» This event concluded tournament action for the Wolverines, who will open up dual-match play next Saturday (Jan. 22) with a doubleheader against Western Michigan (11 a.m.) and Oakland (4:30 p.m.).

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team wrapped up tournament action for the season, competing against Notre Dame in doubles and Duke in singles on the final day of the Michigan Invitational on Sunday (Dec. 16) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Michigan grabbed one doubles match against Notre Dame, with senior Anca Craciun and junior Nicole Hammond picking up their second straight win. Craciun and Hammond were on serve at 3-4 before winning the last three games for a 6-4 win over Maria Olivia Castedo and Yashna Yellayi.
Senior Lanie Van Linge and sophomore Gala Mesochoritou fought off a match point to send their doubles match to a breaker but could not pull it out, with Notre Dame taking a 7-6 (4) win.
Sophomore Jaedan Brown came away with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Duke's Kelly Chen to highlight Michigan's singles action against Duke. Brown broke Chen in the final game of the first set to wrap up the 6-4 victory. After dropping the second set, Brown found herself in a 3-0 hole to Chen before chipping away.
Brown tied the set at 3-3, converting on the deuce point. After Chen held in the next game, the Wolverine won the final three games for the three-set win.
Michigan now turns its attention to dual-match action, hosting a doubleheader next Saturday (Jan. 22) at the Varsity Tennis Center. U-M will face Western Michigan at 11 a.m. and Oakland at 4:30 p.m.
