
26 Wolverines Among Finalists for CSCAA Centennial 100 Greatest Lists

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) announced its finalists for the 100 Greatest Swimmers and Divers on Monday (Aug. 30), with the University of Michigan boasting 26 total nominees among the 973 candidates dating back more than 100 years.
Michigan had the most selections among Division I men's programs with 23, led by notable names like Olympic medalists Gustavo Borges and Tom Dolan. On the women's side, senior Maggie MacNeil was one of three Wolverine finalists and one of 20 nominees that participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The list of candidates dates back to the early days of the Michigan swimming and diving program. The candidates include:

The CSCAA Blue Ribbon Panel (of which head coach Mike Bottom and former U-M women's coach Jim Richardson are a part) is now charged with narrowing the selections to 100 men and 100 women.
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the nation's first professional association of collegiate coaches. As a part of its centennial, the association is recognizing the 100 Greatest Swimmers & Divers, Coaching Pioneers and 100 Greatest Coaches, 100 Alumni of Impact and a Centennial MVP Team.
