
Wolverines Earn ITA All-Academic Team Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team was named a 2021 ITA All-Academic Team and had five Wolverines earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete honor as announced by the ITA on Monday (July 12).
Michigan was one of 210 Division I teams to earn the team recognition. Programs must have had a grade-point average of 3.2 or above for the 2020-21 academic year to qualify. It marked the third straight year the Wolverines have earned the distinction as a team.
U-M had five Wolverines named ITA Scholar-Athletes in Anca Craciun, Merri Kelly, Chiara Lommer, Gala Mesochoritou and Kari Miller. ITA Scholar-Athletes must have had a GPA of 3.5 for the current academic year. Lommer and Craciun each earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, with Craciun also being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar as a statistics major.
Michigan won its ninth Big Ten championship since 2010 during this past season, going 15-1 during Big Ten play to wrap up the title. U-M advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament following wins over Rice and No. 14-seed LSU in Baton Rouge.
