
Men's Tennis Adds Steiglehner to Signing Class

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's tennis head coach Adam Steinberg announced Friday (Dec. 10) the signing of Nicholas Steiglehner to a National Letter of Intent.
A five-star recruit from New York, N.Y., Steiglehner played No. 1 varsity singles at Friends Seminary from Grade 8-10, where he was a New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) singles finalist as a freshman while earning all-league honors. He helped the Owls to the Athletic Conference of Independent Schools (ACIS) finals. This past season, Steiglehner reached the quarterfinals in doubles and round of 16 in singles of the Boys 18 Clay Court, was a J3 Repentigny singles quarterfinalist and doubles semifinalist and was a J1 Guadalajara doubles quarterfinalist. Steiglehner was the 2020 USTA Collegiate Series champion and is currently ranked No. 25 in the nation by Tennis Recruiting for the Class of 2022 and the No. 2 ranked player in New York State. He ranked as high as No. 18 in the USTA National Boys 18s Rankings. He is a 2022 graduate of Dwight School.
Steiglehner is the third player to join the 2022 signing class, after Mert Oral and Bjorn Swenson signed National Letters of Intent in November.
The Wolverines are one month away from beginning their 2022 spring campaign. The Big Ten East Division co-Champion last spring, Michigan had an impressive fall season. The doubles pair of Andrew Fenty and Nino Ehrenschneider won the ITA Midwest Doubles to reach the national tournament. Gavin Young claimed the Big Ten Singles title, while Jacob Bickersteth and Patrick Maloney were runners-up in doubles.
