Strauss Mann (March 24)
Mike Richter Award Semifinalist -- Sophomore goaltender Strauss Mann was named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2020 Mike Richter Award, which honors the nation's top collegiate goaltender. Five finalists will be announced March 30, and the winner will be presented on April 10. The Greenwich, Connecticut, native led the Big Ten and was third in the nation in save percentage at .939, and his 1.85 goals-against average led the conference and ranked sixth in the nation. Mann's six shutouts tied the program record (Al Montoya, 2003-04) and ranked second in the nation this season. He is Michigan's first Richter Award semifinalist.
Strauss Mann, Cam York, Mel Pearson (March 11)
Big Ten Finalist Awards -- Sophomore goaltender Strauss Mann was named a finalist for both Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year awards. Mann leads the league and is third in the nation in save percentage (.939) and goals-against average (1.85). With six shutouts this season, he ranks second in the nation and has tied the Michigan program record. Cam York is a finalist for Rookie of the Year. A first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, York has 16 points on five goals and 11 assists and as a plus-9 on-ice rating and 54 blocked shots to go along with seven power-play points. Head coach Mel Pearson is a finalist for Coach of the Year. He has taken a Michigan team that was last in the Big Ten on Jan. 1 to second place. The Wolverines went undefeated on the road in the second half of the season, doubling their first-half offensive production, and rank seventh in scoring defense. Strauss Mann (March 10)
NCAA Third Star of the Week -- Strauss Mann was named the NCAA Third Star of the Week after posting back-to-back shutout victories over Michigan State. He made 45 saves over the weekend to earn his fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. His shutout on Saturday tied him with Al Montoya for the Michigan program record for shutouts in a single season.

Big Ten First Star of the Week -- Strauss Mann made a career-high 48 saves in a 2-2 draw at No. 18 Minnesota on Friday night (Feb. 28). He added five more saves in the 3-on-3 overtime and stopped both shots he faced in the shootout. The following day, he made 27 saves in a 2-1 win over the Gophers that secured home ice for the Wolverines. He finished the weekend with a .962 save percentage and a 1.44 goals-against average. Will Lockwood, Jake Slaker (Feb. 18)
Big Ten First Star of the Week -- Will Lockwood had a four-point week as Michigan swept Michigan State by a combined 9-2 score. On Friday (Feb. 14) at Munn Ice Arena, Lockwood had an assist on the team's first goal as the Wolverines won, 5-1, on the road. On Monday (Feb. 17), Lockwood scored twice, netting the first goal of the game on a breakaway and the team's final goal in a 4-1 decision. He also had the primary assist on the game-winning goal in the first period to help Michigan win the Duel in the D at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Third Star of the Week -- Jake Slaker had four points in Michigan's two-game series sweep of Michigan State. Slaker had a two-goal outing on the road Friday night (Feb. 14) in East Lansing as the Wolverines won, 5-1. On Monday (Feb. 17), Slaker added two assists in Michigan's 4-1 win at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit as the Wolverines captured the Iron D trophy for the fourth straight year. Jake Slaker, Jimmy Lambert (Feb. 11)
NCAA Second Star of the Week; Big Ten First Star of the Week -- Jake Slaker tied as the nation's leading scorer this week, averaging 2.50 points per game. He scored two goals and three assists as Michigan swept Wisconsin. Slaker finished a plus-5 with 11 shots on goal. On Friday (Feb. 7), he had his first four-point game with a goal and three assists, all primary. On Saturday (Feb. 8), he scored the team's second goal of the game, his 10th of the season. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Second Star of the Week -- Jimmy Lambert led the nation in assists with four and finished in a tie for points per game with 2.50. He had four assists and one goal as Michigan swept Wisconsin. On Friday, he scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in an 8-4 victory before adding two more assists in a 5-3 win and finished the weekend at plus-5. » Big Ten Release

Big Ten Third Star of the Week -- Strauss Mann made 76 saves and allowed four goals as he guided Michigan to an undefeated weekend at No. 6 Penn State. On Friday night (Jan. 17), Mann had a 31-save shutout of the Nittany Lions and followed up with a career high 45 saves in a 4-4 draw, while Michigan earned the extra Big Ten point with a 3x3 overtime victory. Overall, Mann had a .950 save percentage and a 1.93 goals-against average on the weekend. » Big Ten Release
Strauss Mann (Jan. 14)
Big Ten First Star of the Week, NCAA First Star of the Week -- Sophomore goaltender Strauss Mann earned conference and national First Star of the Week honors after leading the nation with a .983 save percentage last weekend, stopping 57 of 58 shots as Michigan swept No. 14 Notre Dame on the road. Mann recorded a 32-save effort on Friday (Jan. 10) in Michigan's first-ever shutout at Compton Family Arena. Mann set the tone early, turning aside a 2x1 chance at 6:40, and closed the period with a highlight-reel save. He continued his work in the second with a big stop on Cal Burke just 19 second in. On Saturday (Jan. 11) he made 25 saves and allowed one goal, off a deflection early in the first. He then withstood 90 seconds of 6x5 as the Irish tried to find a second goal. This is second conference honor of the season for Mann, who ranks eighth in the nation in save percentage (.935), ninth in goals-against average (1.90) and tied for fifth in shutouts (3). » Big Ten Release
Strauss Mann (Dec. 10)
Big Ten Second Star of the Week -- Sophomore goalie Strauss Mann led the Big Ten with a .956 save percentage while allowing three goals against the nation's second-ranked offense in a series split with then-ranked No. 6 Penn State. He stopped 34 shots in a 4-1 victory on Friday night (Dec. 6), including 14 in the third period. On Saturday (Dec. 7) he followed up with a 31 save performance. Jack Becker (Oct. 22)
Big Ten Third Star of the Week -- Junior forward Jack Becker recorded three goals on the weekend to help the Wolverines to a weekend sweep of Lake Superior State. Becker scored once in a 4-0 win on Friday (Oct. 18) and twice, including the eventual game-winner, in a 4-3 victory over the Lakers on Saturday (Oct. 19). » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Preseason Awards and Poll (Sept. 30)
Preseason All-Big Ten -- Michigan senior forward Will Lockwood was named the preseason All-Big Ten second team, while senior goaltender Hayden Lavigne and freshman defenseman Cam York received honorable mention. Lockwood, the 100th captain in program history, finished with 31 points (16 goals, 5 assists) in 2018-19 and led U-M in goals, power-play goals and shots. Lavigne appeared in 19 games last season, finishing with a 7-8-3 record, 3.16 goals-against average and .884 save percentage. York, selected 14th overall by Philadelphia Flyers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, recorded 65 points (14g, 51a) in 62 games with the U.S. NTDP U-18 team last season and tallied 11 points (4g, 7a) in seven games at the 2019 U-18 World Junior Championships. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Preseason Poll -- In the poll of the league's coaches, Michigan was predicted to finish sixth in the Big Ten in 2019-20. The poll: 1. Penn State, 2. Notre Dame, 3. Wisconsin, 4. Ohio State, 5. Minnesota, 6. Michigan, 7. Michigan State.
