Cameron Bock, Paul Juda (March 11)
CGA Gymnast of the Week -- Junior Cameron Bock won event titles on high bar (14.200) and parallel bars with a 14.10 against Illinois and Penn State on Saturday (March 7). The victory on parallel bars marked the eighth of his career, while the high bar title was his second. The honor is his first CGA plaudit the year.
CGA Rookie of the Week -- Freshman Paul Juda won a pair of event titles in a tri-meet against Illinois and Penn State on Saturday (March 7). He scored a career-high 15.000, the third-highest score in the NCAA on the season, and secured the win on the vault table with a 14.800, also a career-best. The floor title was his third of the season, while the vault title was his second. The accolade is Juda's fifth CGA honor of the season.
Paul Juda (Feb. 18)
CGA Gymnast of the Week, Big Ten Freshman, Gymnast of the Week -- Paul Juda won both the high bar and the all-around title in a Wolverine victory against No. 2 Oklahoma on Friday (Feb. 15). He scored a 14.400 on parallel bars for the top spot and earned another title in the all-around with a mark of 84.050, the third-highest score in the country on the event. It is the second straight Big Ten award for Juda, who was named Freshman of the Week on Feb. 11. » Big Ten Release
Paul Juda (Feb. 11)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Paul Juda was selected as Big Ten Freshman of the Week after winning three event titles in U-M's victories over Illinois-Chicago and Northern Illinois on Saturday (Feb. 8). He took home honors on floor exercise (14.200), vault (14.450) and high bar (14.300). His score of 14.300 on high bar checks in as the No. 2 score in the country on the season. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Preseason Honors (Dec. 11)
Michigan was picked first in the annual Big Ten Preseason Poll, while junior Nick Guy and freshman David Willett were named Gymnasts to Watch.
The Wolverines, who captured a share of the 2019 Big Ten regular-season title, topped the poll. The squad was followed by Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, the 2019 postseason Big Ten champion Penn State, as well as Ohio State and Iowa.
Guy has been a mainstay on vault and floor exercise his first two seasons as a Wolverine. Last year, he won two event titles on the table, scoring a 14.500 at the Windy City Invitational, and scored a career-high 14.750 for a win against Oklahoma. He took a spot at NCAA finals, scoring a 14.700 before marking a 13.700 in finals to place 33rd. His high water mark on floor exercise was a 14.166 that came at the NCAA Qualifier.
Willett joins the Wolverines as one of the top-rated recruits in the nation. An eight-time North Carolina state champion, he placed fifth on pommel horse and eighth on parallel bars at the 2018 Winter Cup Challenge (junior division), and took second in the all-around at the 2017 US Qualifier. » Big Ten Release
