ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Two student-athletes from the University of Michigan football team were recognized by the Big Ten on offense, the conference announced on Tuesday (Dec. 15). The Wolverines to earn the B1G honors were running back Hassan Haskins and offensive lineman Andrew Stueber. For both players, it marks their first conference accolade.
Haskins leads the Michigan backfield with 375 yards on 61 carries. He has averaged 6.1 yards per rush, with just five negative yards all season and a team-high six touchdowns. Haskins has been a downhill bruiser for the Wolverines. Heading into the Big Ten Championship Weekend, he is coming off consecutive 100-yard performances against Rutgers (109 yards) and Penn State (101 yards) and needs just three rush yards to reach 1,000 in his career.
According to Pro Football Focus College, Haskins is the top-graded running back in the conference this season with a grade of 86. That grade is ninth-highest across FBS backs. Haskins has forced 14 missed tackles on 62 rush attempts, showing he can go through defenders or around them.
Stueber has been part of an offensive line that has helped pave the way for some of Haskins' big games. A veteran voice, Stueber provided stability and critical leadership along the offensive line. He began the season at right guard, but kicked out for starts at right tackle through the last four weeks.
Stueber returned this season after suffering an ACL injury in training camp leading up to the 2019 campaign. After an offseason of rehab, he came back to be an anchor for the Wolverines up front this season. This marks the first conference honor of Stueber's career.
According to Pro Football Focus College, Stueber has taken no penalties and allowed just four pressures all season, with one sack allowed. He has been awarded a pass-blocking efficiency grade of 98.3 from the outlet, eighth-best among all Big Ten linemen.
