
Michigan Hockey to Host Virtual NHL Draft Party on Tuesday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- As a precursor to the 2020 NHL Draft the University of Michigan ice hockey program will host a virtual draft party Tuesday (Oct. 6.) at 5 p.m.
Fans are invited to RSVP for the Zoom event, which will include former Wolverine NHL first-round selections who will talk about the NHL Draft, Michigan hockey and more:
• Aaron Ward: 5th overall (1991), Winnipeg Jets (event host)
• Eric Nystrom: 10th overall (2002), Calgary Flames
• Zach Werenski: 8th overall (2015), Columbus Blue Jackets
• Josh Norris: 19th overall (2007), San Jose Sharks
The Wolverines have an extensive history with the NHL Draft. Michigan has had 164 players drafted and has had a player drafted in each of the last 24 years. Michigan leads the NCAA in first-round draft choices, including Johnny Beecher (30th overall, Boston Bruins) and Cam York (14th overall, Philadelphia Flyers) the most recent selections in 2019.
The first round of the NHL Draft will begin Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). Rounds 2-7 will take place Wednesday (Oct. 7) beginning at 11:30 a.m. on NHL Network
Current Michigan Wolverines eligible for the draft this year include Thomas Bordeleau, Brendan Brisson, Josh Groll, Philippe Lapointe and Jacob Truscott.
