Michigan got top-eight finishes from both Micaela DeGenero and Meg Darmofal at 1,500 meters, as well as from Chloe Foster in the 400-meter hurdles, Claire Kieffer-Wright in the high jump and Bailey Baker in the discus.
DeGenero and Darmofal were sixth and eighth, respectively, to combine for four points, while both Foster and Kieffer-Wright added three apiece with sixth-place efforts. Baker took eighth for one point in the discus for her second scoring performance of the weekend.
The Wolverines' 31 points were just behind ninth-place Maryland (39 points) and 10th-place Maryland (35 points).
Ohio State claimed the team title with 126 points.
Michigan's first points of the day came by way of the 1,500-meter duo of DeGenero and Darmofal, with the former taking fifth in 4:21.40 for three points and the latter finishing seventh in 4:22.05 for one more.
Darmofal ran more from the front throughout the race, while DeGenero worked her way through the field as the three-and-three-quarter-lap contest wore on. Darmofal was running second just over halfway through at 800 meters, while DeGenero had yet to make her move in ninth. DeGenero jumped up three spots to sixth by the time the bell rang for the last lap, with Darmofal in fourth.
DeGenero held strong for sixth while Darmofal faded back a bit over the last lap, but both ultimately hung on to score their first-ever points at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Both were also Big Ten Indoor Championships scorers, DeGenero at 800 meters and Darmofal in the mile.
Foster joined Degenero and Darmofal in that indoor-and-outdoor scorer club, finishing sixth overall in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.80. Foster was part of a wave of competitors who came off the final turn essentially side-by-side, as she finished within a second of third place.
This scoring performance, good for three points, followed up an indoor season that saw her finish fourth at 600 meters.
In the field, senior thrower Baker became the only woman on the team this year to score in a pair of individual events this weekend. Her opening-round throw of 49.20m (161 feet, 5 inches) would ultimately hold up for eighth place and another point toward the Michigan team effort.
Baker finished fifth in the hammer throw final on Friday.
Two-time Big Ten champion Kieffer-Wright managed sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.70m (5-7) on her second attempt. The competition was just her third of the year.
