
Big Ten Championships Second Round Canceled Due to Rain, Course Conditions

» Overnight rains forced the cancelation of the Big Ten Championships second round, reducing the conference tournament to 36 holes.
» Michigan's first round 298 positions the Maize and Blue sixth, just one shot out of the top five and seven off the lead.
» Freshman Ashley Lau led U-M with an opening 73 (+1) and is tied for seventh, while senior Elodie Van Dievoet's 74 (+2) has her tied for 14th.

MAINVILLE, Ohio -- The University of Michigan women's golf team's second round of the Big Ten Championships was canceled Saturday (April 20) due to overnight rains creating unplayable conditions at the TPC River's Bend and more inclement weather expected in the afternoon.
The conference tournament will now be reduced to 36 holes, with the final round starting Sunday (April 21) starting with tee times at 8 a.m. The Wolverines will be paired with Purdue and Michigan State, which both tallied 297 first-round team totals. The trio will start off the No. 1 tee at 8:54 a.m.
"Unfortunately, the course was unplayable and the round was canceled for the day," said U-M head coach Jan Dowling. "Our focus has shifted to tomorrow and we are prepared to give this championship our best shot. We have an exciting Sunday."
Led by freshman Ashley Lau's 73 (+1), senior Elodie Van Dievoet's 74 (+2) and junior Alisa Snyder's 75 (+3), the Wolverines posted an opening 298 in Friday's rainy opening round.
