NORMAN, Okla. -- The third-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team marked a 411.200 team score but fell to No. 1-ranked Oklahoma, which scored an NCAA-high 424.050 on Saturday (Feb. 23) at McCasland Pavilion.
Senior Emyre Cole led U-M in individual performances, registering a 14.80 on vault for U-M's lone event title of the meet. The title is his 13th victory on vault as a Wolverine. All five Wolverines broke the 14-point plateau on the table, with sophomore Nick Guy scoring a 14.75 to tie for third on the event.
U-M also had a trio of runner-up finishes on individual events, with sophomore Jacob Moore (floor, 14.65), senior Ryan Dunning (still rings, 14.55), and sophomore Cameron Bock (parallel bars,14.35).
Oklahoma extended its win streak to 108 straight meets, the longest unbeaten streak in any sport at the Division I level.
Michigan (6-2) had season-best marks on floor exercise (71.10), pommel horse (68.25) and high bar (68.60).
The meet was also the first matchup for the Wolverines in a five-up, five-count format this season.
After a five-week absence, U-M will return to the friendly confines of Cliff Keen Arena next Saturday (March 2) at 1 p.m., when the Wolverines play host to Iowa. The meet will commence at 1 p.m.
