• Michigan Volleyball in Europe 2018
The Michigan volleyball program just wrapped up a week-and-a-half trip to Europe (June 22-July 1) with stops in Italy and Slovenia.
Sunday, July 1
The Michigan volleyball team ended its #MGoEurope journey on Sunday (July 1) as the Wolverines woke early in Venice, Italy, and took a short flight to Paris, France, before boarding a plane home to Detroit.
3:30 a.m. -- Following a late arrival to Venice, Italy, on Saturday (June 30), the Wolverines had to wake up very early on Sunday (July 1) in order to catch airport shuttles and arrive at the Venice airport on time. After a short ride, the team checked in for its first flight of the day -- a quick hour and a half ride to Paris, France.
9:30 a.m. -- The team lands in Paris, France, and races to make its connecting flight home to Detroit. Despite a rush in making it to the next gate, everyone arrives on time and boards the plane in preparation to return home.
1 p.m. -- Michigan's final flight of the trip touches down in Detroit and the Wolverines deplane. The team must go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection before picking up the Wolverine baggage. Once all bags are accounted for, the team loads up the bus to make the short drive back to Ann Arbor.
3 p.m. -- The Wolverines arrive safely in Ann Arbor and say their goodbyes. It will be another month before the entire team is back together again preparing for the upcoming 2018 season.
Quotes from Michigan student-athletes about the #MGoEurope experience:
Carly Skjodt -- "This trip really culminated what it means to be a Michigan Wolverine. The opportunity to experience different cultures and countries while developing deeper relationships with each other is something that cannot be replicated and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it."
Ellie Brooks -- "There are distinct moments in life that leave an incredible impact, and this trip was definitely one of those moments. I am forever grateful for the experiences that the team and I had on this trip."
Lizzie Sadilek -- "There are not many things that make the transition to college as easy an enjoyable as a trip abroad, especially when faced with joining a new team in a new place. Not only was this trip an amazing cultural experience -- it was an opportunity to unify our team that could not be replicated."
Maddy Abbott -- "The opportunity to travel abroad with Michigan Volleyball has been so special, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this program. Whether competing against European teams or riding a gondola to the top of the mountain in Slovenia, our team had such an amazing time learning more about different cultures as well as learning more about each other. I will never forget this trip. Thank you, Michigan!"
