
Bock Competes in Winter Cup Challenge

» Freshman Cameron Bock took part in the qualifying session of the 2018 Winter Cup Challenge, and competed on four events.
» Bock's night was highlighted by a 12.850 on parallel bars, which tied for 19th, but he failed to qualify for the event finals.
» Former Wolverine Sam Mikulak compiled the top all-around score of the night (86.300), with first-place finishes on floor (14.700), parallel bars (15.200), and high bar (14.700).
» Another former Wolverine in Adrian de los Angeles also took part in the competition, scoring a 78.700 in the all-around. His top score came in vault, where he marked a 14.650.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Freshman Cameron Bock of the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team competed in the 2018 Winter Cup Challenge preliminary session on Thursday (Feb. 16) at the Westgate Hotel.
Bock competed on four events, highlighted by a 12.850 on parallel bars that earned a tie for 19th. Additionally, he scored a 13.100 on still rings (22nd), a 12.050 on high bar (32nd) and an 11.300 (33rd) on pommel horse. The total of 49.300 was not enough to secure a place in the event finals.
A pair of former Wolverines in Sam Mikulak and Adrian de los Angeles also took part in the USA Gymnastics sanctioned event. Mikulak sits atop the all-around standings with a score of 86.300. He also owns the top spot on parallel bars (15.200), high bar (14.700) and is tied for the top spot on floor exercise (14.700). Additionally, Mikulak will enter event finals after placing on third pommel horse (14.650), tied for ninth on still rings (13.500) and 20th on vault (13.550).
De los Angeles is 13th in the all-around with a 79.950, highlighted by a second-place finish on vault with a mark of 14.650. He also accrued top-15 marks on pommel horse (14th, 13.150) and on parallel bars (13th, 13.450).
Both Mikulak and De los Angeles qualified for Session III of competition, as Mikulak earned 44 points in the 10 Point Program Results. De los Angeles earned 10 points, which are used in determining spots on the national team.
Mikulak and De los Angeles will partake in the finals (Session III) of the event on Saturday (Feb. 17) at 7:15 pm PST. Results will determine the selection of the U.S. Senior National Team. The next competition for Bock and the Wolverines will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m. when they travel to Champaign, Illinois, to square off with Illinois.
