TAIPEI, Taiwan -- University of Michigan men's swimmers PJ Ransford and Jacob Montague are representing Team USA in Taipei for the 2017 World University Games, being held Aug. 20-27 at the National Taiwan Sport University Arena.

Thursday, Aug. 24
Montague was busy on Thursday, swimming the 50-meter breaststroke three times. He tied for 16th in the preliminaries (28.24), meaning he was entered in a swim-off later in the morning to determine the last spot in the semifinals. He won that swim-off, beating Poland's Marcin Stolarski by a half-second (27.81). Montague improved his standing in the semifinals in the evening, finishing 11th (27.96).
Wednesday, Aug. 23
Ransford was back in the water swimming another long-distance event, finishing 11th in the 800-meter freestyle (8:02.39). He led at the 350-meter mark of heat three, though his splits began to drop off at the 550-meter mark. Still, despite missing the final, Ransford still managed to post a slightly faster time than at the Phillips 66 National Championships back in June (8:03.55).
Tuesday, Aug. 22
Ransford made nearly an identical swim to the previous day in the 1,500-meter freestyle final, finishing sixth (15:11.42) out of lane two.
Monday, Aug. 21
In the 100-meter breaststroke final, Montague was right on his time from Sunday's qualifying, finishing sixth (1:00.93). Ransford made his first swim of the Games and qualified fifth for the 1,500-meter freestyle final (15:12.64).
Sunday, Aug. 20
Montague opened up the Games by qualifying for the 100-meter breaststroke final, placing sixth in the semifinals (1:00.97).
