
Wolverines Picked to Host NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Following a 21-5 record in the regular season, the University of Michigan women's tennis team was given the No. 10 seed and tabbed to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday (May 2). Michigan will host the four-team regional Friday-Saturday, May 12-13, at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Joining Michigan at the VTC are Kentucky (16-8), Dartmouth (17-4) and Youngstown State (16-8). U-M will face Youngstown State in the opening round on Friday, May 12, at 1 p.m.
U-M is making its 16th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and hosting an NCAA regional for the seventh time in the last eight years.
Michigan won the Big Ten championship after going 11-0 in conference action and made its 13th straight appearance in the championship match of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M has been ranked in the top 10 since Feb. 15 and features a pair of ranked singles players in No. 24 Brienne Minor and No. 25 Kate Fahey. In addition, Fahey joins with junior Alex Najarian to form the No. 9-ranked doubles team.
