Michigan fell behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles point. After Maryland won at No. 3, Michigan's No. 1 duo of junior Alex Najarian and sophomore Kate Fahey evened the ledger with a 6-2 win. U-M could not complete the comeback as Maryland took a 6-2 win at No. 2 to clinch the match's first point.
U-M won four first sets in singles action, with Fahey quickly erasing the U-M deficit with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 1.

Fellow freshman Chiara Lommer won in straight sets at No. 4, breezing to a 6-1 win in the first set. Lommer went up a break at 4-2 in the second and did not look back en route to Michigan's third point of the afternoon.
With Michigan needing just one more point for the team win, sophomore Brienne Minor and Najarian each moved to a third set. Junior Mira Ruder-Hook, the other Wolverine left on court, was battling in a second set that she ended up taking in a breaker to split her first two sets.
Minor jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third set and never looked back, giving up just one game in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 to wrap up the win for Michigan. Minor took control of the match midway through the second set as she dropped just four games in the final two frames.
