ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's tennis head coach Ronni Bernstein announced Friday (Nov. 10) the signing of Alyvia Jones and Anca Craciun to National Letters of Intent.
"We are really excited about this pair," Bernstein said. "I think they are going to provide us with more depth in our lineup, both in singles and doubles. They both compete so hard when they are on the court, and that is what we want."
Craciun hails from Toronto, Ontario, and is a two-time ITF doubles champion at Burlington (April 2016, November 2016). She was the 2016 U18 outdoor provincial champion in July of 2016 and picked up the U18 indoor national championship in April of 2017, knocking out the tournament's top seed in the final. Craciun also won the Tyandaga Selections doubles championship in July 2016.
Jones is the No. 7-ranked recruit by TennisRecruiting, marking the third time that Bernstein has signed a top-10 recruit at the time of signing (No. 4 Kate Fahey, No. 6 Emina Bektas). Jones won the 2017 Gold Ball Doubles title in 2017 at Clay Courts while finishing with the Bronze Ball at the Hard Courts. She was also a finalist at the Girls 18s Winter Nationals and the champion of the G18s USTA Southern Closed Championships. She is from Midland, Michigan, and is finishing high school at Bullock Creek.
Michigan loses the trio of Kara Hall, Alex Najarian and Mira Ruder-Hook to graduation after this season.
