
Wolverines Tabbed to Host NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After going 20-6 in the regular season, the No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team earned its 15th straight NCAA bid and will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Tuesday (May 3). U-M, the 10 seed, will host the four-team regional Friday-Saturday, May 13-14, at the Varsity Tennis Center.
Joining the Maize and Blue at the VTC are No. 23 Kentucky, Xavier and Ball State. UK and Xavier will face each other in the first match on May 13 at 10 a.m., with Michigan taking on Ball State at 1 p.m. The winners will square off on May 14 at 1 p.m., with a spot in the final 16 at stake. The remainder of the NCAA Tournament will be held May 19-30 at the University of Tulsa.
The Wolverines are hosting the first and second rounds for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
Michigan finished second in the Big Ten this season, going 10-1 in conference action and making an appearance in the championship of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M has wins over three top-10 teams this season -- No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Miami and No. 9 Duke. The Wolverines feature a trio of ranked singles players in No. 16 Ronit Yurovsky, No. 18 Brienne Minor and No. 65 Kate Fahey.
