HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out competition at Hillsdale's Gina Relays on Saturday (April 30), with three athletes setting PRs in the open pole vault to claim a one-two-three finish for the Maize and Blue at Ken Herrick Outdoor Track.
Senior/junior Claire Tewksbury earned the victory as the only athlete to clear 3.72 meters (12-2.50 ft.), a new personal best. The win caps a great weekend for the Wolverine senior, who attended student-athlete graduation on Friday.
Runner-up freshman Emma Bauer set a new PR of nearly three feet, clearing the 3.57-meter bar (11-8.50 ft.). Sophomore/freshman Tori Chapin matched that mark but needed three attempts, so she earned third place overall.
The Wolverines will be represented at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday (May 1).
