MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team took the doubles point and won five singles matches en route to a 6-1 outdoor win over Minnesota on Sunday afternoon (April 3) at the Baseline Tennis Center.
Michigan swept all three doubles matches for the second day in a row, with freshmen Brienne Minor and Kate Fahey getting off court first with a 6-2 win at No. 1. Junior Sara Remynse and senior Ronit Yurovsky clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Sophomores Alex Najarian and Mira Ruder-Hook rallied from a 5-2 deficit for a 7-5 win at No. 2 to keep Michigan perfect in doubles action.
Fahey quickly extended Michigan's lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2. Ruder-Hook followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4, with Yurovsky clinching Michigan's win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the top spot.
Minor got back in the win column with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 to extend Michigan's lead to 5-0. Minnesota put a point on the board with a win at No. 6, but Najarian ended the day with a three-set victory at No. 5 as Michigan took the 6-1 decision.
Michigan wraps up non-conference action on Wednesday (April 6), playing at Duke. The match is set for 1 p.m. from Durham, North Carolina.
