
Singles Play Propels Michigan Past Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team won the first five singles matches off court to rally from a 1-0 deficit, knocking off Nebraska 5-2 on Sunday afternoon (April 17) at the Dillon Tennis Center.
U-M fell in early holes at all three doubles spots as Nebraska grabbed wins at No. 2 and No. 1 to secure the match's first point.
Michigan quickly took back control of the match as singles play began as the Maize and Blue won all six first sets.
Freshman Brienne Minor made quick work of her opponent at No. 3, not dropping a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 victory to put the Wolverines on the board.
Senior Ronit Yurovsky followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top spot, taking advantage of a 4-2 break in the second set to give Michigan its first lead of the day.
Moments later, sophomore Mira Ruder-Hook came through with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 to put Michigan on the brink of the win.
Freshman Kate Fahey provided the clinching point as she ripped off 11 straight games at one point in a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2. Fahey fell behind 3-0 to start the match before winning six straight games to take the first set. The momentum carried over into the second set, with Fahey jumping out to a 5-0 lead to eventually take a 6-2 win to wrap up her match.
Junior Sara Remynse pushed Michigan's lead to 5-1, pulling out a second-set tiebreaker for a 6-1, 7-6 win at No. 6.
Nebraska won the match at No. 5 to complete a 5-2 Michigan win.
