ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Senior Kyle Jackson of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team was named today (Tuesday, March 8) the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his six-point performance in U-M's 15-13 win over Vermont on March 5.
Jackson, who captures back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Week honors after earning the honor on March 1, had three goals and three assists in the program's third win of the season over Vermont. The six-point performance marks only the fifth time in school history the mark has been achieved, while the three helpers are the second most in team annals.
Currently, Jackson ranks No. 3 in the NCAA in goals per game (3.80) and leads the team in overall goals with 19. Jackson has scored at least three goals in each game this season, and is already only five goals off his career high of 24 that he set during his sophomore season. Additionally, he ranks No. 15 in the NCAA in shooting percentage, as he has scored a goal on 53 percent of his shots (19 goals on 36 shots).
The award is the fourth weekly honor for Jackson in his career. Along with being honored last week with the same accolade, he was previously named ECAC Rookie of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week during the 2013-14 season.
The Wolverines will next take the field Saturday (March 12) at 1 p.m., when they travel to No. 5 Brown.
