ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 15-13 win over the Vermont Catamounts Saturday (March 5) inside a snowy Michigan Stadium. Senior attackman Kyle Jackson had six points, while senior/junior Gerald Logan made 17 saves in goal to lift U-M to victory.
The first half was as back and forth as it could be, as it featured six lead changes. Leading 6-5 at the half, Michigan traded goals with the Catamounts until the 3:45 mark of the third and led 9-8 at 3:45 of the third stanza. The Wolverines closed the quarter with a 4-0 run and added another marker on a man-up tally from junior Ian King at the 14:42 mark of the fourth to run the score to 14-9.
From there, U-M hung on for the win, as the Catamounts closed with three straight goals to end the game but were unable to overcome the five-goal advantage. The U-M defense, led by Logan, held strong against the nation's No. 11 offense heading into the contest.
Senior Evan Glaser had two goals on the day, marking his first scores in nearly three years. Additionally, U-M's four man-up goals tie for the most in school history, while the 47 shots on the day tie for the fourth most.
