The University of Michigan women's basketball team (8-3) returns home to Crisler Center for the first time in three weeks on Tuesday (Dec. 13), hosting Ohio (7-0) at 6:30 p.m. The game is first of four straight for the Maize and Blue at Crisler.
Senior Siera Thompson and junior Katelynn Flaherty are now tied at the top of the career list for three-pointers. Thompson and Flaherty each have 215 triples after Flaherty hit three against UCLA and Thompson drilled one. They are two of three Wolverines (Carmen Reynolds) to top 200 three-pointers in a career.
Michigan will end the 2016 calendar year with four straight games at Crisler Center after spending the better part of the last three weeks on the road. U-M is 4-0 at home this season, scoring 95.8 points per game on 53.8-percent shooting. The defense has been stellar at home as well, holding opponents to 44.8 points per game on 29.8-percent shooting. U-M will not play on the road again until Dec. 1, 2017, traveling to Wisconsin to face the Badgers.
The Bobcats are coming off a 71-65 win at IUPUI on Saturday (Dec. 10). Ohio is undefeated through seven games and is averaging 70.4 points per game on 39.7-percent shooting. Ohio has two players scoring in double figures in Quiera Lampkins (19.3 ppg) and Jasmine Weatherspoon (10.7 ppg). Michigan leads the all-time series against Ohio, 4-1, but the teams have not met since the 2007-08 season.
Senior Siera Thompson turned in the first double-double of her career in Michigan's win at San Diego State (Dec. 9), recording 11 points and 11 assists. It marks the first point-assist double-double for a Wolverine since Shannon Smith turned in one on Feb. 14, 2015, against Northwestern. Thompson's 11 assists are a career high and mark the highest total by a Big Ten player this season. She is up to 434 for her career, coming in at No. 3.
Freshman Kysre Gondrezick has scored in double figures in seven of Michigan's 11 games after leading U-M with 18 at No. 9 UCLA (Dec. 11). Gondrezick leads the Wolverines in free throw attempts (36) and is second in scoring (13.1 ppg) and three-pointers made (25). Michigan has had a freshman score in double figures in each of the last three seasons in Siera Thompson (13.2 ppg), Katelynn Flaherty (14.3 ppg) and Hallie Thome (14.4 ppg).
Sophomore center Hallie Thome will see a familiar face when Michigan hosts Ohio. Her fraternal twin, Hannah, is a redshirt freshman for the Bobcats. Hannah has played in two games this season for the Bobcats, seeing 7.0 minutes per game.
