ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team opened up play at the Wolverine Invitational on Friday (Oct. 14) at the Varsity Tennis Center, winning two doubles matches against Miami and four singles matches against Princeton.
Sophomore Brienne Minor and sophomore Mira Ruder-Hook combined for a 6-2 doubles win against Miami, while junior Alex Najarian and sophomore Kate Fahey grabbed a 6-4 victory to start the day for the Maize and Blue.
Michigan turned its attention to Princeton in singles play, as Minor, Fahey, Ruder-Hook and freshman Chiara Lommer each took straight-set wins. It was the first fall victories of the season for Minor and Ruder-Hook, who each participated in the doubles portion of the ITA All-American last weekend (Oct. 6-8).
Michigan continues the Wolverine Invitational tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 15) at the Varsity Tennis Center. Miami and Princeton will face each other in singles at 10 a.m., with Michigan beginning doubles play against Princeton at 1 p.m. The Wolverines will then square off against Washington in singles following the completion of doubles.
