Postgame Notes: Utah 24, Michigan 17

• Graduate student Jake Rudock started the opener at Utah at quarterback. He completed 27-of-43 passes for 279 yards and tossed two touchdowns.
• Junior tailback De'Veon Smith led the rushing attack with 47 yards on 17 carries.
• Junior tight end Jake Butt caught the first pass of the year from Jake Rudock.
• Ian Bunting hauled in his first career reception in the third quarter for a Michigan first down.
• True freshman Grant Perry showed glimpses of a bright future. He hauled in three passes for 41 yards including a 25-yard reception.
• Kenny Allen handled kickoff and field goal responsibilities, while graduate transfer Blake O'Neill handled punting duties. Allen went 1-2 on field goals, converting a 29-yarder 47 seconds into the second quarter to tie the game, 3-3, Michigan's first points of the year. O'Neill had three punts for 130 yards, an average of 43.3 including a beautiful hanging punt downed inside the Utah five-yard line.
• Junior tight end Jake Butt surpassed the 500-yard career receiving mark in the Utah game on a 19-yard touchdown reception from Jake Rudock with 46 seconds left in the third quarter to cut the Ute lead to seven, 17-10. He caught eight passes for 93 yards.
• Senior linebacker and co-captain Joe Bolden reached the 200-tackle milestone in the contest with Utah. Bolden led the team with 13 stops and had one tackle for loss. Graduate student Desmond Morgan also reached double-digit tackles with 10.
• The Michigan defense finished the night with nine tackles for loss. Chris Wormley led the effort with three.
• Michigan wore all white uniforms (jerseys and pants) that resembled those worn during the 1973 through 1975 football seasons.
• The announced attendance was 47,825, the largest crowd in Rice-Eccles Stadium history.
