Sophomores Caroline Knop and Adeja Lambert each had 10 kills, while Knop added 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. In the first set, MSU tallied back-to-back aces to regain a 17-16 lead and force a Michigan timeout. The Spartan run kept going following the stoppage, as the Green and White scored four of the next five points for a 21-17 lead and another U-M timeout. The Maize and Blue fought off two set points to force a Spartan timeout, but Knop's shot on the ensuing point went wide, allowing MSU to escape with a 25-23 win. U-M tallied 18 kills on a .279 attack percentage to MSU's 13 terminations on .256 hitting but was done in by three MSU service aces in the frame.
MSU jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the second set, putting down seven kills on just 11 attempts. The Wolverines grabbed a 9-5 lead on Krystalyn Goode's second kill of the third set as MSU used an early timeout. Michigan held a 16-12 lead, but the Spartans reeled off five straight points to take a 17-16 advantage before a Knop kill down the line ended the run. Two straight blocks by Cole gave the Wolverines a two-point cushion at 20-18, as MSU used its final timeout. MSU regained a 22-21 lead on a U-M attack error and scored on a tip kill the next point for a 23-21 advantage. A Michigan attack error followed by an MSU kill sealed the 25-21 set win and match for the Spartans.
