ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's gymnastics team announced its 2016 schedule today (Tuesday, Sept. 1). The Wolverines will host five home meets inside Cliff Keen Arena and will partake in both the Big Ten and NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
U-M will welcome four powerhouse programs to Ann Arbor this season, beginning with defending NCAA champions Oklahoma on Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. The next week will feature the Ohio State Buckeyes (Jan. 30, 2 p.m.)
Following premier road competitions on Feb. 6 at Stanford and a March 12 matchup against Illinois in Champaign, the Wolverines will close out the regular season by hosting Penn State on March 19 at 1 p.m. and UIC on March 26 at 2 p.m. on Senior Night.
The Big Ten Championships run April 1-2, while the NCAA Championships will be contested April 14-16. Both events are hosted by Ohio State, inside St. John Arena.
Michigan returns a pair of 2015 All-Americans in senior Nolan Novak (pommel horse) and sophomore Dmitri Belanovski (high bar). Additionally, U-M will add 14 freshmen to the 2016 roster, giving the Wolverines the most freshmen in a single season under head coach Kurt Golder.
