ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan wrestling program announced its 2015-16 schedule today (Thursday, Aug. 13), featuring a challenging slate of 16 dual meets and two regular-season tournaments. The Wolverines will face six opponents that earned top-20 finishes at last season's NCAA Championships, including defending champion Ohio State.
Michigan will return to the Journeymen Northeast Duals after a five-year hiatus to kick off the 2015-16 season on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Albany, New York, with duals against Sacred Heart, West Virginia and Hofstra.
The Wolverines open the home portion of their schedule against Oklahoma on Sunday, Nov. 22, and three weeks later, open Big Ten Conference action at home against Michigan State on Thursday, Dec. 10. In all, Michigan will host nine dual meets this season at Cliff Keen Arena. In addition to MSU, Michigan will host Big Ten duals against Illinois (Jan. 15), Indiana (Jan. 24), Northwestern (Jan. 29) and Purdue (Feb. 12).
Michigan is also slated to appear in a pair of major midseason tournaments. U-M will make its 33rd consecutive trip to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 4-5) and will return to the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2) for the second straight season. Michigan took seventh place at the Las Vegas event last season and claimed fifth at the Southern Scuffle.
Michigan will close out the regular season with a to-be-determined NWCA National Duals opponent on Feb. 20 at Keen Arena. Under a new format this season, the National Duals will resemble college football's bowl games with dual meets on several campus sites.
