The University of Michigan rowing program was well represented at the 2015 World Rowing Cup II in Varese, Italy, where Amanda Elmore (Ph.D. '18), Felice Mueller ('12) and Ellen Tomek ('06) competed for USRowing last week (June 18-21), all qualifying for A finals on Sunday. Elmore fared well in her first international competition of the summer, earning a bronze medal in the women's quadruple sculls with Adrienne Martelli, Tracy Eisser, and Grace Latz with a time of 6:17.42. In a close women's pair final, Mueller and Eleanor Logan took fourth place in 7:00.99. But the tightest race of the day, Tomek and double sculls partner Meghan O'Leary were narrowly edged by New Zealand, taking the silver medal in 6:53.35, just .14 behind the winning boat. Elmore, Mueller, and Tomek will continue training this summer for the 2015 World Rowing Championships (Aug. 30-Sept. 6), which will also serve as the Olympic qualification regatta.
