Five Wolverines Selected for CRCA All-Region Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Five members of the University of Michigan rowing team have been selected to all-region teams by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), and three earned Scholar-Athlete recognition, the CRCA announced today (Thursday, May 28).
Senior port/starboard Jessica Eiffert, senior coxswain Hannah Sherman and senior port Alex Spaulding earned CRCA all-region first team recognition, while freshman starboard Kendall Brewer and sophomore port Kaitlin Wright received second team honors.
Eiffert earned CRCA All-Central Region first team for the third straight year, while Sherman, Spaulding, Brewer and Wright received all-region recognition for the first time this year. Eiffert and Spaulding also earned 2014 All-Big Ten Conference first team recognition, while Sherman was an all-conference second team selection.
The CRCA all-region awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from five regions across the country. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches' recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their team's varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
Junior port/starboard Adena Coste, sophomore port Kelsi Harden and Wright all earned Scholar-Athlete recognition. To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete distinction a student-athlete must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher for her career, and compete in a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races.
As CRCA all-region selections, Eiffert, Sherman, Spaulding, Brewer and Wright are eligible for All-America award selection following the 2015 NCAA Rowing Championships.
