The Wolverines improved to 5-0-0 against the Badgers this season and are undefeated against Wisconsin in their last seven games (6-0-1). This is the longest unbeaten streak in the series since a 10-game run (9-0-1) from Nov. 25, 1994-Nov. 29, 2002. Michigan now leads the all-time series with Wisconsin, 69-54-8.
Michigan improved to 3-1 against Wisconsin at Joe Louis Arena. The last time these teams met at Joe Louis Arena was on Nov. 30, 1996, when the Wolverines won, 8-4, in the College Hockey Showcase.
This is the Wolverines' first Big Ten Tournament victory in school history. Michigan and Wisconsin met for the first time in Big Ten Tournament play and have now met nine times in postseason play (4-5), including three times in the WCHA Tournament when both were members of the WCHA (1969-1981) and five times in the NCAA Tournament.
The Wolverines improved to 3-1 at Joe Louis Arena this season and 102-48-5 all-time at Joe Louis Arena. Michigan defeated Michigan Tech and Michigan State in the Great Lakes Invitational Dec. 29-30 and fell to Michigan State on Jan. 30 in the "Dual in the D."
The fifth victory of the season against the Badgers marks the first time that Michigan has beaten one opponent five times in a single season since the Wolverines beat Michigan State five times during the 2008-09 season.
The Wolverines five-goal performance tied a Big Ten Tournament-record set by Wisconsin on March 22, 2014, in the inaugural Big Ten Tournament Championship Game.
With the win, Michigan remained a perfect 14-0-0 when scoring five or more goals. The Wolverines have topped the five-goal mark 14 times this season. The last time a Michigan team topped five goals in a season 14 times was in 2009-10 (15).
Zach Hyman (2G, A) became the first Michigan player to top 50 points in a single season since Carl Hagelin, who had 50 points (19G, 31A) in 2009-10. Hyman leads the Big Ten in scoring with 52 points (21G, 31A).
Hyman is the first U-M player to reach 20 goals since Louie Caporusso had 21 goals in 2009-10. Hyman (52 points) has the most points by a Michigan player in a single season since Chad Kolarik (56 points) and Kevin Porter (63 points) both topped 52 points in 2007-08. Michigan is now 15-1-0 when Zach Hyman scores a goal.
Dylan Larkin (G, 3A) leads all Big Ten freshmen with 47 points (15G, 32A) on the season. Larkin has the most points by a Michigan freshman since Brendan Morrison had 48 points (20G, 28A) in 1993-94. His 32 assists are the most by a Michigan freshman since Aaron Palushaj had 34 assists in 2007-08. Larkin set a Big Ten Tournament record for points in a game.
With 28 saves in net, Steve Racine improved to 6-1-0 postseason all-time and has allowed two goals or less in five of his seven postseason starts. Racine remains perfect against the Badgers in his career, with a 3-0-0 record.
Justin Selman (G, A) has 22 points (11G, 11A) in his last 14 games and 23 points overall on the season. Selman had 13 points (5G, 8A) in his first two years combined at Michigan.
Andrew Sinelli's goal gives Michigan defensemen 23 goals in 35 games this season. In 2013-14, Michigan defensemen scored eight goals in 35 games.
