With the 7-4 win at Wisconsin, the Wolverines have won a season-best six games in a row, the program's longest winning streak since an eight-game winning streak from Feb. 11-March 12, 2011. The Wolverines have the nation's longest active winning streak. Michigan has also won six straight games in Big Ten play.
Michigan has recorded 46 goals in seven Big Ten conference games, leading the league with an average of 6.57 goals per game. Michigan's scoring average overall is up to a nation-leading 4.29 goals per game, with 90 goals in 21 contests, including 24 in the last three games (8.00 goals/game).
U-M has topped the seven-goal mark six times this season. The last time a Michigan team had seven or more goals in six games in a single season was 1996-97 (14 times).
The Wolverines are now 65-54-8 in the all-time series against the Badgers. Michigan earned its first win at the Kohl Center since Nov. 24, 2006 (W, 4-3), snapping a four-game losing streak in Madison.
Six different players recorded multiple-point nights, led by Justin Selman (3G, A), who notched a new career high for points in a game. Zach Hyman (G, 2A), Dylan Larkin (2A), Michael Downing (2A), Andrew Copp (2G) and Alex Kile (G, A) also had multiple-point nights for Michigan. Hyman leads the team with 10 multiple-point games this season.
Selman set a new career high for points in a single game for the second straight contest, notching four points (3G, A) one week after recording three points (G, 2A) at Ohio State. Selman's hat trick is the second by a Michigan player this season, matching Zach Hyman's three goals on Oct. 24 at UMass-Lowell.
Hyman leads the team and the Big Ten with 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists) this season. He has points and goals in six straight games and 10 of his last 11 contests. Michigan is 11-0-0 when Hyman scores a goal this season.
Freshman forward Dylan Larkin has points in six straight and seven of the last eight games. Larkin leads all Big Ten freshmen with 27 points (8G, 19A) on the season.
Michigan's power play continues to improve as the Wolverines have recorded a power-play goal in eight of the last nine games after finishing the night 2-for-5 on the man advantage, the third straight game the Wolverines have scored two power-play goals and fourth straight game with at least one PPG. Michigan is 15-for-33 (45.4%) on the power play in the last nine games.
Five Michigan players have point streaks of three games or more, led by Hyman (six games, 7G, 8A) and Larkin (six games, 6G, 9A). Tyler Motte (four games, 2G, 4A), Michael Downing (three games, G, 6A) and Andrew Copp (three games, 4G, 2A) also have point streaks after tonight's contest.
