Michigan is now 76-33-12 in the all-time series against Ohio State, with a 37-14-7 record at Yost Ice Arena against the Buckeyes. U-M is unbeaten in its last nine (8-0-1) against Ohio State, the longest unbeaten run in the series since the 1990s when the Wolverines went 29-0-5 against Ohio State from Jan. 26, 1990-Jan. 1, 1998.
The Wolverines have their longest winning streak of the season at four games and have won six of the last seven, all at Yost Ice Arena.
Three Wolverines have recorded points in each of the last four games, all Michigan victories. Tyler Motte (2G, 7A) leads the group, while Zach Hyman (3G, 4A) increased his team-leading point total to 17 (7G, 10A), matching his career-best point total from last season. Alex Kile has goals in each of the last four games and six points (5G, A) in that span.
With six power-play goals on the season, Alex Kile now leads the nation in that category.
Michigan matched a season high for goals (eight) and goals in a period (five). Michigan has scored eight goals three times this season (11/22/14 vs. Penn State and 10/24/14 vs. UMass-Lowell) and recorded five goals in the third period of its 8-1 win over Penn State on Nov. 22.
The Wolverines had seven different players record multiple-point games, one shy of their season high in that category (8, 11/22/14 vs. Penn State).
Michigan followed up a 6-0 shutout win over RPI last weekend (Nov. 29) with an 8-3 victory tonight. The last time U-M had six or more goals in consecutive games was in October 2010 when it beat RIT 7-2 (Oct. 12) and Bentley 6-3 (Oct. 19) in back-to-back home games.
Michigan finished the night 4-for-5 on the power play, the most power-play goals it has scored in a game this season. The last time Michigan had four power-play goals was Jan. 8, 2010, at Western Michigan, a 4-3 win.
Michigan scored all four power-play goals in the second period to put the game out of reach. The last time Michigan scored four power-play goals in a period was on March 11, 2005, in the second period of a 10-1 win over Notre Dame at Yost Ice Arena.
Tyler Motte's four assists are a single-game high by any Wolverine this season. The last time a Michigan player recorded four assists in a game was on Feb. 13, 2009, when Aaron Palushaj had a goal and four assists against Nebraska-Omaha.
