Tannenbaum, Bertin to Headline 2014-15 Pre-Meet Clinics

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan wrestling team will host two free pre-meet clinics in 2014-15, featuring technique instruction from former Wolverine greats Eric Tannenbaum and Ryan Bertin as well as current members of the Wolverine team. The clinics are open to all ages and skill levels and will be held at Cliff Keen Arena.
Tannenbaum will headline a clinic from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, prior to the Ohio State dual, while Bertin's clinic will run 4:30-6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, prior to the Wolverines' home finale against Duke.
Registration is limited to the first 200 pre-registered participants. All pre-registered participants will receive free admission to the subsequent dual meet and a free Michigan wrestling T-shirt.
Tannenbaum (2005-08) was a four-time NCAA All-American -- at 149 (2005, '06) and 165 pounds (2007, '08) -- earning national finishes of sixth, fourth (twice) and second. He captured Big Ten titles as a freshman and senior and twice won the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational title. Tannenbaum posted a 143-21 career record to rank sixth among Michigan's career wins leaders. He is currently in his third year of orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan Health System.
Bertin (2002-05) was a two-time NCAA 157-pound champion (2003, '05) and four-time NCAA All-American, placing third as a junior (2004) and sixth as a freshman (2002). He captured Michigan's first NCAA individual title in 18 years when he defeated Illinois' Alex Tirapelle, 7-3, in 2003, and two years later, defeated Iowa's Joe Johnston, 8-5, en route to his second NCAA crown, becoming the fifth multiple champion in U-M history. Named the 2005 Big Ten Wrestler of the Year and Michigan's male recipient of the 2005 Big Ten Medal of Honor, Bertin posted a 142-21 career record, ranking fifth among U-M's all-time winningest wrestlers. He currently serves as a senior vice president at Signature Associates.
Bertin and Tannenbaum overlapped for one season in the Wolverine starting lineup; their 2004-05 squad that captured a second consecutive Big Ten dual-meet title and claimed second place at the NCAA Championships.
