Ruder-Hook, Lee's Semifinal Runs Highlight ASU Thunderbird Action

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior Sarah Lee and freshman Mira Ruder-Hook each made a run to the semifinals of the singles main draw as the University of Michigan women's tennis team completed action at the three-day ASU Thunderbird on Sunday (Nov. 9) at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
Lee and Ruder-Hook each won their first three singles matches before each falling in the semis. Lee dropped a three-set decision (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) to Cal's Kara Popovic, while Ruder-Hook fell in two (6-2, 6-2) to Fresno State's Sophie Watts, the eventual champion.
Each of the four other Wolverines in action picked up at least one singles win, with senior Kristen Dodge notching two wins on the weekend.
On the doubles court, U-M went 4-5 in round-robin play. Ruder-Hook and freshman Annie Wierda teamed up for two wins, with freshman Kara Hall and sophomore Sara Remynse picking up the other two.
The Wolverines do not return to action until the new year, when they complete tournament play by hosting the Michigan Invitational (Jan. 17-19) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
