The Wolverines picked up their first win over RPI since Jan. 18, 1986, an 11-10 win at Yost Ice Arena. Michigan and RPI have met 12 times, with the Engineers owning a 7-4-1 advantage in those contests. Michigan is 2-1-0 all-time against RPI at Yost Ice Arena.
Michigan picked up its first win against an ECAC Hockey opponent since Oct. 13, 2011, a 10-3 win over St. Lawrence at Yost Ice Arena. The Wolverines had lost their last three games against ECAC Hockey competition.
Michael Downing (two assists), Zach Hyman (goal, assist) and Dylan Larkin (two assists) each had multiple-point nights for the Wolverines. Hyman and Larkin are tied for the team lead with four multiple-point games this season.
Downing now has points in three straight games, with four points overall (2G, 2A) in that span.
Alex Kile is tied for the team lead with six goals this season and has 12 points (six goals, six assists) overall in 12 games. Kile recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in 26 games last season.
Zach Hyman is also well on his way to a career year, leading the team with 14 points (six goals, eight assists) on the season. Hyman set a career high with 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 2013-14.
Michigan finished the night 0-for-3 on the man advantage and 0-for-1 on the penalty kill. The Wolverines are scoreless in their last three games on the power play.
For the sixth straight game, Michigan outshot its opponent, holding a 33-27 edge on shots for the game. Michigan has held the shot advantage in 10 of 12 games with a 6-4 record in those contests.
