ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Freshman Evan White of the No. 1-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday (Nov. 11).
In victories against Penn State and Virginia last weekend (Nov. 7-8), White won his first two collegiate events, taking first in both the 200-yard IM (1:49.08) and 200-yard butterfly (1:49.19). He is currently ranked fourth and eighth in those events, respectively, in the conference. He also finished fourth in the 400-yard IM and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The swimmers are back in action at the U.S. Winter National Championships, held Dec. 3-6 in Greensboro, N.C. Before that, the divers will compete at the Nike Dowd Cup, held Nov. 20-22 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
