TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team completed action at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Saturday (Nov. 1) at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Wolverines won 14 singles matches and seven doubles matches and appeared in five finals at the event.
Michigan had four players with two singles wins each in senior Emina Bektas, junior Ronit Yurovsky, sophomore Sara Remynse and freshman Alex Najarian. Remynse, Yurovsky and Lee each made it to their respective draw's final, but each fell in the last match of the tournament.
The Maize and Blue opened doubles play on Friday (Oct. 31) with a perfect 4-0 mark. The pairing of Bektas and Najarian, as well as the duo of Kristen Dodge and Remynse, advanced to the final match of each draw. Bektas and Najarian dropped an 8-3 decision in their final, while Remynse and Dodge fell, 8-6.
Michigan wraps up the fall season next week, with Bektas, Yurosvky and Najarian competing in the National Indoor Championships (Nov. 6-9) in Flushing, N.Y. The remainder of the team will be in action at the Thunderbird Invitational (Nov. 7-9) in Tempe, Ariz.
