Michigan Head Coach Ronni Bernstein
On the Wolverines' victory ... "It was obviously good to get the doubles point. We have needed to step up our doubles play, and we've continued to talk to them about getting off to a good start in the match. There were a couple close pro sets there that we were able to close out; from five-all, it was kind of close and we pulled away at the end. That was good to see. We got good starts in the singles. We were up in all the first sets, except maybe one of the matches. Wisconsin has some good, athletic players. Anytime we can get a Big Ten win, we'll take it."
On starting strong in Big Ten play ... "We just have to be ready every match. We feel like the Big Ten this year has gotten a lot better and more competitive. It's going to be tough, and we need to be mentally prepared for every match. To get a 7-0 win today is good. The biggest thing for us is we need an overall team effort. Earlier this season, we didn't have that. We had a couple kids playing well, but others were struggling. We need to just make sure that everyone on the team is contributing, and we're getting there."
On sophomore Sam Critser ... "It's great to have Sam back. She's really solid, helped us a lot last year and is a big part of our team. These last two matches have been a totally different Sam. When she started, the focus was more about trusting the knee, but she's definitely getting her confidence back. It comes at a good time for us as we get into Big Tens. We want to be peaking in May, and we're going to need her."
