Michigan's all-time record against Bowling Green fell to 79-35-3 with the loss tonight. The Wolverines have earned a 14-2-2 record in their last 18 games overall, dating back to Dec. 3 at Alaska, and have outscored opponents 54-32 in that span.
The Wolverines remain in second place in the CCHA standings with 47 points.
Michigan allowed two goals in the first period tonight, marking the first time since Dec. 10 at Michigan State that an opponent has tallied more than one goal through the first 20 minutes. It was only the second time in that span that Michigan has surrendered any score during the first period.
The Wolverines scored the game's first goal for the eighth straight game and have a 17-6-4 record this season when opening the scoring. Tonight marked just the second time this season that the Wolverines have lost when leading after two periods (16-2-3).
A.J Treais extended his career-best point streak to eight games with an assist in the first period tonight. Treais has recorded 12 points (7g, 5a) during the streak and has assists in his last four outings.
Rookie Phil Di Giuseppe scored his 10th goal of the season and is the fifth Wolverine to hit the double-digit goal mark this season. Di Giuseppe has four points (2g, 2a) in his last five games and 21 points (10g, 11a) on the season.
David Wohlberg posted two points (1g, 1a) and now has three points (1g, 2a) in his last three games. Wohlberg has now tied his career best for assists in a season with 17.
Freshman Alex Guptill also recorded two points (1g, 1a) and now leads the team with 30 points (16g, 14a) and 16 goals this season.
Goaltender Shawn Hunwick turned aside 25 of 29 shots in his 10th defeat of the season.
